About

"I’m a swiss based backcountry and big-mountain skier who spends his winters chasing the best conditions, having the best possible time and meeting new people from all over."

Background

Born and raised in the Swiss Alps, Piers got introduced to skiing by his mother at the young age of three. At six years he started alpine ski racing which took up most of the time during his childhood. After ten years of racing Piers felt more and more drawn to the freedom of free skiing, and consequently got his first pair of “fat skis” when he was 17 years old and from that moment on has been hooked to skiing outside of the race-course and in deep snow.

After a year of exploring the skiing in the side- and back-country of his home-resort in Engelberg, Switzerland, he got introduced to Oskar Enander, professional snow sports photographer from Sweden.  Piers started some photo projects with Oskar and with his help came to his first sponsors. To this day, working with Oskar is one of the main activities he follows during his winters. Oskar also opened the door to other parts of the industry for Piers, as for example his first film trip, which was for sweetgrass productions’ “Valhalla” when he was 19. Ever since, it has been Piers' goal to add more filming to his schedule. In the mean time he has also filmed for a few bigger film projects and has been included in a webisode series started by DPS-skis, which has got him into filming more in the last seasons.

In addition, over the last few years Piers has been spending a big part of his summers in Argentina, where he coaches and guides skiers and snowboarders out in the side- and back-country of Cerro-Cathedral near San Carlos de Bariloche for a travel company known as SASS Global Travel.
